Hey you. Welcome back to Living in English 365. Today, we’re scratching the surface — and only the surface — of something that’s about to change how you learn English forever: using AI the right way. Not the exhausting way. Not the ‘chat with ChatGPT for 2 hours and feel nothing changed’ way. The smart way.
SECTION 1 — THE TRUTH ABOUT USING AI FOR LANGUAGE LEARNING
You’ve probably already opened an AI app and thought, Okay… now what?
You’re not alone. Most people don’t know how to use AI as a fluency tool. They use it like Google with personality.
And that’s why nothing improves.
Here’s the truth — AI can help your English, but only if you know how to control it, direct it, and use it like a coach… not a search bar. And nobody is teaching this properly.
So today, I want to give you a taste — a preview — of what’s possible when you stop guessing and start using AI intentionally.
SECTION 2 — WHAT AI CAN DO FOR YOUR ENGLISH
AI can:
- diagnose your fluency problems faster than any placement test
- simulate real conversations the way you wish real people would
- train your listening so your brain stops freezing
- force you out of your comfort zone without embarrassing you
- give you instant feedback on your speaking
- speed up your reading by helping you read smarter, not slower
But the thing people miss?
You have to set AI up the right way for it to do any of that.
Just like getting fit — you don’t walk into the gym and touch random machines. You need a plan.
SECTION 3 — THE PROBLEM WITH ‘JUST PRACTICE’ (04:00–05:30)
Most learners think improvement comes from ‘just practicing more.’
It doesn’t.
It comes from practicing correctly.
You can talk to AI every day and never improve if you’re doing it passively.
You can ask perfect questions and still get boring, generic answers — if you don’t know how to train the AI to train you.
And that is the part I’m saving for the guide — because the ‘how’ is everything.
SECTION 4 — WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING WITH AI
I’m going to give you the categories — not the instructions for right now.
If you want to use AI to actually grow your English, you should focus on:
- Speaking simulations that push you
- Daily micro-drills that target your weak points
- Smart reading routines
- Shadowing — correctly
- Writing with constraints
- Personalized vocabulary boosters
Notice I’m telling you what — not the how.
Because the method matters more than the idea.
Most people copy templates that don’t work for them. Most AI tools don’t tell you how to do this.
I’ll show you the how later.
SECTION 5 — THE REAL ISSUE: YOU’RE NOT STUCK. YOU’RE UNGUIDED
If you’ve been plateaued at B1 for years or floating between B2 and C1…
It’s not your fault.
You’re not stuck — you’ve just never had a system that fits your brain.
AI can be that system — if you know how to use it.
And if you don’t? It will waste your time.
SECTION 6 — SO WHAT’S NEXT?
In the next episodes, I’m going to break this open. I’ll take one skill at a time — speaking, listening, reading, vocabulary — and show you what AI can do without giving away the secret sauce.
Because I want you to implement this the right way, not randomly.
And if you want the step-by-step — the exact prompts, scripts, routines, and corrections — join my brand new 30-day course, Unstuck in English, or my monthly Reading Group. Both are designed to guide you, hold you accountable, and get you improving in weeks, not years.
