Conversation Partners: Why You Need One

Conversation Partners is a free program from Paradigm English. It is only available to members of the Living in English: 365 podcast group on Facebook. You may join that group by clicking here.

The group was created by Ashley Rhone in an effort to help you practice your English.

Why You Need A Conversation Partner

Having a conversation partner allows you to practice speaking, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and listening. Also, you will learn about a different culture. The members of the Facebook podcast group are diverse. You will have the opportunity to be matched to another fantastic member who is on the same journey as you are.

Most people who are learning or have learned English aren’t native speakers. This is great news! Now you will have the opportunity to speak with a person who is makes up the majority of English speakers on the planet.

Good for you!

Commitment

You should be very proud of yourself for walking this super fun path. Make a commitment to yourself. Once you do that, it will be easier to accomplish your goals. Don’t have a goal? Ashley always encourages students to create a goal for themselves first. This helps you better focus and actually reach and smash your goals in English.

How long?

Try to commit to speaking with your partner for at least 4 months. However, this is just a suggestion. Once you speak with your partner, you both will find a length of time that is best for you.

Ashley suggests that you and your partner aim to speak for at least one-hour each week. You can choose a day and a time that is best for you, or you can chose two separate days. For example, 30-minutes every Wednesday and Thursday.

Final Thoughts

No matter what you do, have fun! This is an exciting adventure. Speak with your partner to find a day and time that is best for both of you. Commit to improving yourself and to helping your partner improve, too. Each pairing is unique. You are both individuals, so have fun discovering something new about yourself and your new conversation partner!
